Who We Are
The WCCF promotes and facilitates local philanthropy in an effort to improve the quality of life in Washington County by assuming four roles: Fundraiser, Grant-Maker, Community Leader, and Donor Service Organization.
What We Do
The Washington County Community Foundation helps donors give "Close to Home." Fostering philanthropy by offering charitable gifting opportunities to donors on an individualized basis and at reasonable fees, the Foundation makes charitable giving easier, more satisfying, and more effective. Cumulatively, the WCCF has awarded over $30 million in grants in eight broad areas as follows: Animal Welfare; Arts & Culture; Community Improvement & Economic Development; Conservation & Environment; Education; Health & Fitness; Human Needs; and Religion & Faith-Based. Although grant-making is a core activity, the WCCF is also committed to strengthening the local charitable community through education. It frequently coordinates and hosts a broad range of trainings on important topics specific to the charitable sector, and in special circumstances, Foundation staff will provide intensive one-on-one technical support on subjects such as marketing, development, financial management, and strategic growth. The WCCF hosts and facilitates WCCF Gives, Washington County's community-wide giving event which has cumulatively awarded close to $12 million to local charities (www.wccfgives.org). And most recently, the WCCF launched the Community Snapshot initiative, a first-of-its-kind, web-based community needs and assets resource (www.communitysnapshot.org).
