Volunteer: Volunteer Advocate

CASA for Kids is seeking community volunteers to serve as volunteer advocates for a child who has experienced abuse or neglect in Washington County. Our next Volunteer class begins on September 9th. Trainings are once a week for 8 weeks prior to being assigned by the Judge to a case of a child who is involved in the child welfare system through no fault of their own.

CASA advocates must:

Be 21 years or older Pass All background screenings. Participate in the National CASA research-informed pre-service curriculum Commit to advocating on a case for at least 18 months

A CASA advocate will:

visit with the child at least monthly gather information about the child provide recommendations to the court regarding the child's placement and needed services work with child welfare professionals on the child's behalf to ensure the child's best interests are served
