Volunteer Opportunities From: United Way of Washington County

Volunteer: Volunteer Visitor

Volunteers with the capacity to socially engage individual residents on a variety of topics with the purpose to improve the quality of life are of the highest value here at Southwestern Veterans Center. Volunteer Visitors spend time directly with the residents, sharing stories, laughing, reading books, playing games, and sometimes listening to what concerns them. If you are compassionate, patient, possess a good sense of humor, and an overwhelming desire to make others smile, please consider volunteering as a Volunteer Visitor with the veterans at SWVC.

Volunteer: Canteen Clerk

Southwestern Veterans Center has a small snack shop on site which we refer to as out "Canteen". It is completely operated by volunteers, and the profits made from this small store go directly to the Veterans Welfare Fund to support the residents at SWVC. Volunteers working as Canteen Clerks will be trained on how to operate the register and the basic operations of the canteen. Customer Service is a high priority for this volunteer position. We want to take care of our residents, as well as staff and visitors who choose to use this service. If you enjoy working independently and have the availability to volunteer for a few hours on a weekly basis, please consider volunteering as a Canteen Clerk.
